Bulls Snap the Streak

Pre Game

The Cleveland Cavaliers (27-18) come to town to take on the Bulls (27-15). Bulls are on a 4 game losing streak, Cavs are on a 5 game win streak and here's to hoping the Bulls snap both. Since the Grizzlies game, Nikola Vucevic has had a lot of stick (more than usual). Is it deserved or can he turn it back around tonight? Because the Bulls definitely need him to step up tonight. 2 massive positives for the Bulls are the return of Alex Caruso and Tyler Cook. Caruso has been missed massively, especially his defence and his communication on the court and Tyler Cook was looking looking good before his injury and returned with an impressive 14 minutes last night for the Windy City Bulls. His size will be crucial at time tonight for Bulls.

1ST HALF

1st Quarter - A mixed start for Bulls as they struggle with the Cavs size and 3 point shooting, whilst also struggling with their own 3 pointers. The quarter ends with the Bulls trailing 29-24.

Bulls

  • Coby White has 10 pts on 3-4 FGs.

  • Nikola Vucevic has 6 pts, 3 rebs.

  • 1/7 from 3

Cavs

  • Lauri Markkanen 8pts

  • Evan Mobley 8 pts

  • 3/5 from 3

2nd Quarter - What a difference in quarters. DeMar DeRozan turned it on scoring wise and everyone else stepped up at same time. The energy and hustle returned and also no turnovers in the quarter from the Bulls. Bulls win the quarter 34-20 and they end the quarter with the lead 58-49

HALFTIME STATS

Bulls

  • DeRozan18 pts,

  • White 14 pts on 5-for-6 shooting.

  • Vučević 10 pts 8 rebs

  • Dosunmu 4 pts, 4 asts, 3 rebs

  • 2/9 3s

Cavs

  • Mobley 12pts

  • Markkanen 11pts

  • 6/16 3s

2ND HALF

3rd Quarter - Bulls need to come out with the same intensity that helped the 10-0 run to finish the 2nd but it doesn't quite go like that. Fortunately the Bulls kept their lead as both teams scord 29 in the quarter. The Bulls still hold a solid lead after three quarters with a 87-78 lead.

Bulls

  • DeRozan 22 pts.

  • Vucevic 16 pts, 11 rebs

  • White 16 pts

Cavs

  • Markkanen 23pts

  • Garland 16pts

4th Quarter - Bulls need to keep the same mentality to close out the game. Big quarter needed to claim the W and with some big plays in the 4th from the Bulls they win the quarter 30-26 as well as the game with a final score of 117-104

POSTGAME STATS

Bulls

  • DeRozan: 30p/2r/7a/1s/2b

  • Vucevic: 24p/12r/3a/1b

  • Dosunmu: 18p/3r/8a/2s

  • White: 16p/4r/3a/4s

  • Caruso: 9p/3r/2a/1b

Final Takeaway

This is the performance the Bulls have needed, as a team and as individuals. DeMar DeRozan looked back to his early season form and Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White continue to grow together. But Nikola Vucevic deserves a lot of credit. I was calling all night that he needed to stay in the paint since he's more effective there and he did just that and has one of best games of the season. But the return of Alex Caruso definitely helped this performance. The energy and the hustle returned instantly to the whole team as soon as he stepped on the court. Even Coby White came up with some big steals.
